I am about to offer you the solutions and in depth knowledge and understanding of the best kept secrets to a successful real estate career. Why doesn’t everyone know these secrets? Why are these secrets kept from everyone? Is it reserved for the lucky few who selfishly keep it to themselves? Is that why there are only a small few that really make a lot of money in real estate? Well, I say….NO.
Real Estate is simple and easy if you know how to play the game. It is totally true. If making a mountain of money selling Real Estate is what you are after then you are in the right place. Glad you came. This BLOG today is for REALTORs or for people who are seriously thinking that becoming a REALTOR may be their next career.
It is easy – really. Take a course for a few months…pass the test and then get licensed with a brokerage of your choice and let’s say…the rest is history. You just received a license to print money…Your real estate license. It is easy to find success stories of people making a lot of money in real estate. Keep reading…..it gets better.
Here’s the FACTS: Our Board – CADREB – which stands for Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board, had close to 320 Real Estate Agents in 2008 and now we are somewhere in the neighborhood of 280. People have dropped out of the business because the market shifted and it was tougher to make money. Offices have shrunk in size. (all except for Sutton Group Showplace Realty Ltd. BTW which actually more than doubled in size since the meltdown – that’s another story as well…) and there were REALTORS that I knew that moved away to other opportunities. Hey, if it gets too hard, ya gotta take care of the family – Don’t ya. I understand. I empathize.
Let’s face it, we are in the middle of a market downturn that has been going on for almost 5 years now. In Chilliwack especially we have not seen the market recover yet. Listings are on the market a little bit longer….Buyer’s are taking a little bit longer to make decisions. The financing world is in a flux and they are changing the rules every week. Buyer’s who qualified yesterday all of a sudden can’t get a mortgage today. Apparently when things go bad in Greece we feel it here. The US had stupid corrupt mortgage practices and messed up their country. We have a whole bunch of excuses. Lots. Watch the news and then it is easy to justify why it isn’t EASY to make money in Real Estate – agreed?
There are a few people making a lot of money in today’s Real Estate Market. There are people having the best years of their lives…REALTORS who are seeing commission cheques that they never thought possible before. Listings are selling. There are Buyers buying homes. Business is churning. Who are these people that are making all of the money? What is their secret? What do they know? Are they just simply lucky? Do they have better contacts? Better financial positions? Are they just better looking? Is it because they had a great mentor? Maybe – depends on the habits that mentor taught…can’t rule that out. I have seen a lot of mentored people fail because they weren’t learning the most basic important things.
Here’s the deal:
It is easy. The things that you need to do to make a lot of money in this business is easy. BUT…not everyone does it. The people that have given up were not willing to do what it took in order to make their business work. Simple.
At the end of every day – ask yourself this – “Did I do every single thing that I could do today before I put my head down to sleep in order to make sure that I am successful in this business?” – be truthful with your answer. If the answer is no then you need to do more the next day. If it is YES then you can have a great sleep.
Now part of the challenge is the fact that if you knew what you needed to do – you would do it, you just don’t know what to do. Well heck that is no problem my friend. We can solve that.
Its kind of like someone who is over weight. A diet book with a catchy title gets their attention and the next thing you know they are eating cabbage and lemons for a month….it works for a bit and then they just can’t stand it any more and go back to their old habits. The new habit had rewards but not attractive enough because the change was very drastic. Then maybe they catch on to a new product that will eliminate their weight the EASY WAY! it is only $400 per month but the results are guaranteed….don’t change nay habits….just eat the pill or drink the drink or whatever and you can eat whatever you want and the pounds will just melt off of your body. Easy huh. The price for the reward again lost out. Easy never wins…are you sensing a theme here?
We have all been there. Why do we look up to people that have achieved things and put them on a pedestal? Why do we think that they are so amazing? We idolize these people and think that they are so extraordinary…. They are …. that is why. They are EXtra ORdinary….The people that idolize them are ordinary. They have the same limiting beliefs, they have the same financial troubles, they have the same habits, they live out their life ordinarily and think that people that have achieved anything in their life as Super Human or something.
I am here to tell you that you have everything in you right now to be the best person that you were meant to be and you can do great things. I know it is true. I don’t even know you maybe…maybe I do….but I do know this for absolute certain….GOD does not make junk. There is nobody better than you. Maybe at some things but not at everything.
I am also here to tell you that if you are a REALTOR or thinking about becoming a REALTOR, then I know that every personality type can make it in this business and do very well. Because guess what…we deal with every personality type in our clients.
There may be some things that you will have to work on and work through and maybe some new habits that need to be formed and new beliefs but that is ok. If you are committed, you will get there. When we go through challenges or do something a little bit uncomfortable…we change a bit. We grow a bit. We gain a little bit more confidence. It is true. And it is a must. The Real Estate business is not hard. It is easy. Focusing on others and their needs is sometimes hard when you are concerned about yourself. I truly believe that if I pray to GOD and say something like…”God, can you please make it easy for me? Bring clients to me so that I don’t have to do anything…can you actually get them to dial my office number please and ask for my name? Can you please make the clients listen to me when I tell them their price is too high? Please make it easy God”….No. I believe God would say…”well, I am sorry about that but you have got to go through this and learn from this and become a better person so that you can serve the people that I bring into your life.” Or something like that.
I could just keep on typing…but it is time to bring this to a close.
